Starting off with Peachtober, an October drawing challenge with daily prompts created by artist @furrylittlepeach. This was my first time participating in an art challenge. I’ve always wanted to take part in Peachtober but always had other work on at the time. This year, however, I had a free schedule to work on it, and I’m so glad! I was surprised at how I was able to create a body of work in just a short amount of time.

I began by writing out all the prompts in my journal and making notes and quick scribbles. I always find looking up the dictionary definition of the word to be a helpful starting point. I then started sketching out all my ideas on Procreate.

Prompts from left to right - ring, ghost, poppy.

I then did quick colour tests for all the pieces. This has become a staple part of my process now. I used to make up the colour palette as I worked on the final but after having to provide colour tests for commission work, I’ve come to value doing this beforehand.
